Dear Sue:

I’m often asked if interviewing professional athletes is the most exciting and rewarding part of my job.
That’s an easy one ... NO!
I’d trade an afternoon with Brett Favre at Lambeau for a day on the ice with Sue Ervin any time. The most rewarding stories I’ve covered involve athletes and coaches like you.
No one really knows how much time and energy you devote to not only teaching your sport but
promoting it as well. I can’t think of a more deserving candidate for the Wisconsin Sports Hall of Fame.
Congratulations on your nomination.

After interviewing thousands of people every year you’d think it would be easy for Sue Ervin to get lost in the crowd. But it’s hard to forget someone like you. You made me feel so comfortable during our first meeting many years ago that I wanted to return to the ice and dig up more interesting stories about our local skaters. You made it easy for me to do my job by being so passionate about your sport. That passion helps remind us that there’s more to the local sporting scene then just the Packers, Brewers and Bucks.

You help light a competitive fire in your students and in hand light a fire in the community as well. The Pettit National Ice Center and the increase in other facilities in our area would have never been possible without the Sue Ervins of the world. At the same time you never seem to lose sight of the other reason young athletes choose to skate, to have fun! Continue to make it fun for us all and I’m looking forward to saying that I know a member of the Hall of Fame.
