To Whom It May Concern:

I have been requested to write a letter of recommendation for Sara Rossman relating to her figure skating training over the past 5 years both as an amateur competitor and more recently as a coaching assistant. It is with pleasure that I do so as I have a high regard for Sara not only as a figure skater, but as an intelligent, bright young woman.

Figure skating is a high intensity sport that involves a mixture of athletic ability, intelligence, art in the form of dance and choreography on ice, musical aptitude, grace, style and the ability to absorb hours of endless guidance and coaching instruction. Figure skating at the advanced levels is not for everyone and those few who excel, such as Sara, are to be highly commended.

Unfortunately the price for loving a sport so much often requires sacrificing time in other areas like optional after-school activities. However, after skating and coaching for 40 years myself, I can honestly say the rewards and “off the ice” lessons learned and enjoyed are precious and invaluable. It pleases me greatly that Sara is passing on her knowledge and love for skating as a coaching assistant.

The discipline and structure figure skating provides will serve Sara well as she prepares for a degree in elementary education. Her compassion will allow her to work well with children and parents.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to write or call me.

Sincerely,

Sue Susic Ervin, Figure Skating Coach to Sara Rossman
