Skating instructor deserves place in
Hall of Fame |
|
The CNI Newspapers sports
staff extends congratulations to New Berlin’s Sue Susic Ervin on her nomination to the Wisconsin Sports Hall of
Fame. |
|
Ervin’s nomination is richly deserved,
as she will go down in history as one of
the United States’ all-time best in the sport of figure
skating. |
|
Ervin’s excellence in the sport began
with her own triple gold medalist achievement in figures and freestyle in
the United States, Europe and Canada. Her greatest contribution has come
in the coaching arena, as she has guided 18 students from the amateur to
professional ranks over her 25 years of
coaching. |
|
The chief local beneficiaries of
Ervin’s instruction have been the Greater Milwaukee Figure Skating Club
and the Wisconsin Figure Skating Club, with which she still teaches. She
has also served as choreographer for “Red, White and Blades”, a Wisconsin
Figure Skating Club production. |
